The JAC has just launched a new website. It includes details of information and support available to prospective candidates, including:

  • Overview of the selection process
  • Guidance on the Judicial Skills and Abilities Framework
  • Support for legal role applicants
  • Practice resources for the Qualifying Test and Scenario Test

Their 2026 Diversity Update, a biannual publication outlining the work the JAC is
doing to deliver its diversity strategy was published alongside an update to the 2025 Judicial Diversity Forum action plan. This outlines the wide range of actions that its members are undertaking to achieve a more diverse and inclusive judiciary, aligned to four outcomes, and how the impact of each initiative will be measured and evaluated.

The JAC welcomes any feedback on the website or their work towards delivering to
encourage greater judicial diversity.

Candidate support programmes – opportunity to have your say in user research

The JAC is working with the judiciary and the Ministry of Justice to develop an online centralised candidate support website, to ensure that candidates have access to clear support pathways – all in one space.

To assist the development of this website, the JAC will be conducting user research to test the designs and ensure that the resource is as helpful to candidates as possible and welcome UKABJ members take part in this user research, to share your perspectives and inform the website build.
